The short answer: get the Roborock Saros 10R ($829.99 on Amazon.com, checked October 27, 2026) if you want one robot that slides under low furniture and avoids clutter: Vacuum Wars scored it 24 of 24 on obstacles. Get the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete ($949.99) if your home has high thresholds or door tracks: it climbs 2.36 in.

Roborock and Dreame split most of the premium robot vacuum and mop market between them. Both use LiDAR or 3D sensing, extending arms and hot-water mop washing, but their design choices diverge sharply by budget. Aspi compared four current models, two per brand, all sold on Amazon.com, to find where the real differences are. This comparison is part of our robot vacuum brand comparisons.

The 30-second version

  • Roborock’s all-rounder: the Saros 10R ($829.99) skips the LiDAR turret for a 3.14 in body and avoided all 24 objects in Vacuum Wars’ test, rated 4.0/5 from 5,836 ratings.
  • Roborock’s carpet specialist: the Qrevo Edge S5A ($659.99) scored 96% on Vacuum Wars’ carpet deep-clean test and washes its mops at up to 167°F, rated 4.0/5 from 532 ratings.
  • Dreame’s threshold champion: the X50 Ultra Complete ($949.99, sold by Amazon.com) climbs 2.36 in on retractable legs and handles hair up to 11.8 in, rated 4.1/5 from 780 ratings.
  • Dreame’s 2026 flagship: the X60 Ultra ($1,349.99) is 3.13 in thin, sees with dual AI cameras and washes its mops at 212°F, rated 4.0/5 from 42 ratings.
  • In short: Roborock bets on slim bodies and the best obstacle avoidance; Dreame on extending arms and climbing over obstacles.

How Aspi picks 🤖

On paper, the two brands’ spec sheets look more alike every year. Aspi keeps three criteria that make the real difference in daily use: how reliably the robot navigates around clutter, how far it actually reaches along edges and furniture legs, and how high a threshold it really climbs, as measured by testers, not just the marketing figure.

Method: we did not test these four models ourselves. This comparison cross-checks Vacuum Wars’ published measurements, the manufacturers’ specs and the Amazon.com listings (price, seller, rating), all checked on October 27, 2026. A fact is kept only if a measured test or the maker’s own listing supports it.

Who should skip each one ⚠️

  • Qrevo Edge S5A, if your floor is cluttered: it avoided 6 of 24 objects in Vacuum Wars’ test, so pick up cables and socks before each run.
  • Dreame X60 Ultra, if you want a long track record: it had only 42 Amazon.com ratings on October 27, 2026.

Model by model

Roborock Saros 10R: the all-rounder without a turret

At $829.99, the Saros 10R stays 3.14 in tall because it has no spinning LiDAR turret: the StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 maps with 3D sensing instead, and Roborock says it recognizes 108 obstacle types. The AdaptiLift chassis lifts the robot over thresholds Roborock rates at up to 4 cm, and the dock washes the mops with 176°F (80 °C) water and dries them at 131°F (55 °C). Vacuum Wars measured 24 of 24 objects avoided, 0% hair tangling, 92% pet hair pickup on carpet and 80% carpet deep cleaning, and titled its review “The Best We’ve Seen So Far.” Its onboard bin is a small 270 ml, emptied automatically by the dock. Amazon.com rating: 4.0/5 from 5,836 ratings, sold by Roborock.

Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A: carpet power for less

At $659.99, the Qrevo Edge S5A keeps a classic LiDAR turret and puts its money into the brushes: DuoDivide main brush and FlexiArm Arc side brush. Its dock washes the two spinning mops at up to 167°F and holds a 2.7 L dust bag for over 60 days. Vacuum Wars measured 96% carpet deep cleaning, tied with the best on its bench, and 0% hair tangling, but only 6 of 24 objects avoided. Amazon.com rating: 4.0/5 from 532 ratings, sold by Roborock (only 10 left on October 27).

Dreame X50 Ultra Complete: the threshold champion

At $949.99 and sold by Amazon.com, the X50 Ultra Complete is the climber of the group: ProLeap retractable legs lift it over door tracks and obstacles up to 2.36 in, and VersaLift Navigation lowers it to 3.5 in to get under sofas. The DuoBrush handles hair up to 11.8 in long, both the side brush and the mop extend into corners, and the Complete box adds spare brushes, dust bags, filters and 14 mop pads. Prefer to skip the spares? The standard Dreame X50 Ultra was $849.99 on October 27, sold by Dreame’s own store. Amazon.com rating: 4.1/5 from 780 ratings.

Dreame X60 Ultra: thinnest Dreame, hottest wash

At $1,349.99, the X60 Ultra is Dreame’s thinnest robot at 3.13 in and its most powerful here at 35,000 Pa. Dual AI cameras with their own lighting spot obstacles, it detects steps up to 3.47 in, and MopExtend RoboSwing pushes the mop into corners and under furniture. The dock washes the mops at 212°F (100 °C), dries them with hot air and stores 100 days of dust. Amazon.com rating: 4.0/5 from 42 ratings, sold by Dreame’s store.

Frequently asked questions

Roborock or Dreame: which is better in 2026?

For most homes, Roborock: on October 27, 2026, the Saros 10R costs $829.99 on Amazon.com, is only 3.14 in tall and avoided 24 of 24 objects in Vacuum Wars’ test. Dreame is the better pick for high thresholds: the X50 Ultra Complete ($949.99) climbs obstacles up to 2.36 in.

Which is cheaper, Roborock or Dreame?

Roborock, at the models we compared. The Qrevo Edge S5A is $659.99 and the Saros 10R $829.99, while the Dreame X50 Ultra is $849.99 and the X50 Ultra Complete $949.99 on Amazon.com on October 27, 2026.

Do I need a robot with extending arms for edges?

If your home has lots of furniture legs, baseboards and corners, yes. All four robots here extend a side brush or mop toward edges; the Dreame X60 Ultra adds MopExtend RoboSwing to push its mop under furniture as well.

Does a robot without a LiDAR turret navigate as well?

The Saros 10R suggests it can: it replaces the raised turret with StarSight 2.0 3D sensing to stay 3.14 in tall, and Vacuum Wars measured 24 of 24 objects avoided. The trade-off is mainly height, not mapping quality.

Which climbs thresholds better, Roborock or Dreame?

Dreame. The X50 Ultra Complete climbs up to 2.36 in on retractable legs and the X60 Ultra detects steps up to 3.47 in. Roborock rates the Saros 10R for thresholds up to 4 cm; Vacuum Wars saw it clear 26 mm but not a single step of about 36 mm.

Aspi’s verdict 🤖

For one robot that does everything well, the Roborock Saros 10R ($829.99) is our pick: 3.14 in thin, a perfect 24 of 24 on Vacuum Wars’ obstacle test, and a dock that washes mops at 176°F. On a tighter Roborock budget, the Qrevo Edge S5A ($659.99) is the carpet specialist. On the Dreame side, the X50 Ultra Complete ($949.99) is the one to get for high thresholds and door tracks. And for a home full of low furniture and corners, the X60 Ultra ($1,349.99) brings 35,000 Pa and a 212°F mop wash.
