Our pick: the Roborock Q7 M5+, because at $249.98 on Amazon.com (checked October 27, 2026) it gives you LiDAR mapping, 10,000 Pa and a self-emptying dock for about $49 less than the Roomba 105 Combo with AutoEmpty Dock, with the same 4.0/5 rating spread over 25,513 ratings.
The short answer: get a Roborock. The Q7 M5+ ($249.98 on Amazon.com, October 27, 2026) is the best value: self-emptying, LiDAR, 4.0/5 from 25,513 ratings. For carpet and a dock that washes the mops, the Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A ($659.99) scored 96% on Vacuum Wars’ carpet test. Roomba fans: the Roomba 105 Combo is $299.00.
Roomba is the name that started the category, and iRobot is the Massachusetts company most Americans still picture when they think “robot vacuum.” Roborock is the brand that made laser navigation, tangle-free brushes and hot-water mop docks mainstream. Here is which one to buy in late 2026. This comparison is part of our robot vacuum brand comparisons.

Roomba vs Roborock: what separates them in 2026?
- Roborock sells its whole range on Amazon.com through its own storefront, from the $249.98 Q7 M5+ to flagship docks that wash mops in hot water.
- Roomba (iRobot) entered Chapter 11 in December 2025 and was taken over by its manufacturer, Picea. Roombas are still sold on Amazon.com, several of them by Amazon itself.
- Like for like, Roborock is cheaper: the Roborock Q7 M5+ and the Roomba 105 Combo with AutoEmpty Dock are both LiDAR robots with a vacuum-and-mop pad and a self-emptying dock; the Roborock costs about $49 less.
- Three tiers, all in stock on October 27, 2026: best quality (Roborock Qrevo Edge S5A, $659.99), best value (Roborock Q7 M5+, $249.98) and the Roomba to get if you want a Roomba (Roomba 105 Combo, $299.00).

Bottom line: the Roborock wins on price, published suction and hair handling; the Roomba is sold by Amazon itself and keeps rugs dry while it mops. For most homes, the Q7 M5+ is the better deal. Shopping on a tight budget? Our guide to the best robot vacuums under $300 covers more options.
Want a dock that washes the mop?
This is where the two brands split. Roborock’s Qrevo Edge S5A ($659.99, 4.0/5 from 532 ratings, sold by Roborock) washes its two spinning mops in water up to 167°F (75 °C), dries them with warm air and empties itself for over 60 days. Vacuum Wars measured 96% carpet deep cleaning and 0% hair tangling. iRobot’s cheapest wash-dock robot, the Roomba Plus 405 Combo, is $299.99 on Amazon.com, but it is rated 3.2/5 from 1,144 ratings and scored 58% on Vacuum Wars’ carpet test, the worst it has recorded for a Roomba with that evaluation.

What the spec sheets don’t tell you
Cross-checking the Amazon.com listings of both brands on October 27, 2026 with Vacuum Wars’ measurements, three points stand out that none of these sources puts side by side.
- “Roborock is cheaper for the same features” still holds in the US. The two robots in our main table share LiDAR, a vacuum-and-mop pad and a self-emptying dock, and the Roborock costs about $49 less.
- A cheap Roomba wash dock is not a bargain. At $299.99, the Roomba Plus 405 Combo costs about the same as the Roomba 105 Combo while adding a mop-washing dock. Vacuum Wars, though, measured 58% carpet deep cleaning, no front obstacle sensors and floors left too wet; buyers rate it 3.2/5. If you want a washing dock, the extra money for a Roborock buys a measured 96% on carpet.
- Suction numbers don’t settle it. Roomba doesn’t publish a Pa figure at all; Roborock does (10,000 Pa on the Q7 M5+, 18,500 Pa on the S5A). Vacuum Wars still found below-average suction on the S5A alongside its 96% carpet score: brush design matters more than the number on the box.

Should you still buy a Roomba after iRobot’s bankruptcy?
In December 2025, iRobot announced an agreement to enter Chapter 11 and be acquired by its manufacturer and creditor, Picea, according to The Robot Report. The company said it planned to keep supporting its products through the process. Vacuum Wars, in an update dated March 25, 2026, describes iRobot as acquired by Picea.
What it means for you: Roombas are still on sale, but we found no independent measure of iRobot’s customer support since the takeover. The simplest way to limit the risk is to buy a model sold by Amazon.com, like the Roomba 105 Combo, so returns go through Amazon.
What if you don’t want either?
If you’d rather skip both brands, here are three robots we’d consider, prices checked on Amazon.com on October 27, 2026.
| Feature | Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2: cheapest full station | ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 PRO Omni: best value | ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 PRO Omni: best quality |

We compare those brands head to head in Dreame vs ECOVACS, and Roborock against ECOVACS in Roborock vs ECOVACS.
Who should skip each one
- Skip the Q7 M5+ if you want the mopping done for you: its dock empties the bin but doesn’t wash the pad.
- Skip the Qrevo Edge S5A if your floor is cluttered: it avoided 6 of 24 objects in Vacuum Wars’ test, so tidy cables and socks first.
- Skip the Roomba Plus 405 Combo: for about the same money, the Roomba 105 Combo or the Roborock Q7 M5+ is the better robot.
How Aspi picks
Method: we did not test these robots ourselves. This comparison cross-checks manufacturer specs, Vacuum Wars’ published measurements, Amazon.com customer ratings and the Amazon.com listings (price, seller, availability), all checked on October 27, 2026. Aspi keeps three criteria: a robot you can actually buy today, its rating across hundreds of reviews, and what it gives you for the money.
