The short answer: the best robot vacuum for a large home is the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete, at $949.99 (checked October 27, 2026): its retractable legs climb thresholds up to 2.36 inches, it runs up to 180 minutes, and its dock empties, washes and dries on its own. On a smaller budget, the eufy E25 ($599.98) remembers up to five floor plans.
In a 400 sq ft apartment, almost any robot does fine. In a 1,300 sq ft house spread over several floors, the gaps get obvious: some finish the job without you thinking about it, others head back to the dock and never really pick up where they left off. We compared four robots built for big homes, looking past the runtime number on the box. More picks for every kind of home live in our robot vacuums by home type section.

Key takeaways in 30 seconds
- Best for most large homes: the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete ($949.99) climbs obstacles up to 2.36 inches (6 cm) with retractable legs and lowers itself to 3.5 inches to get under furniture.
- Slimmest and smartest around obstacles: the Narwal Flow ($999.99) has a 3.7-inch body, dual-camera obstacle avoidance for 200+ object types and up to 200 minutes of runtime.
- Fewest charging stops: the ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone ($1,099.99) tops up its battery while it washes the mop, and its dock is bagless.
- Best value: the eufy E25 ($599.98) remembers up to five floor plans and switches maps automatically.
- The real test: a robot’s ability to recharge and resume exactly where it stopped matters more than the raw runtime on the spec sheet.
The number that really matters in a big home 📐
Spec sheets quote runtime in the most economical mode. One independent video test we reviewed measured real battery drain on the ECOVACS X11 OmniCyclone: in standard mode, about 5% of battery for 118 sq ft (11 m²), or roughly 2,150 sq ft (200 m²) per full charge. In max mode, the setting that does best on rugs and pet hair, measured coverage dropped to about 860 sq ft (80 m²). The mode that cleans best is not the one that lasts longest, which is why recharge-and-resume, or ECOVACS’ PowerBoost top-up during mop washing, matters so much in a large home.
The second blind spot on spec sheets is multiple floors. A robot doesn’t climb stairs: you carry it from one level to the next, and what counts is how fast it recognizes where it is. Several verified owner reviews of robots in this class describe mapping that gets confused after a floor change, with rooms merged by mistake on the first pass. It’s a challenge for the whole category, not a flaw of one brand. Check that the app saves several maps: the eufy E25 stores up to five. And to understand how each robot sees your home, read our LiDAR vs camera robot vacuum guide.
Method: we did not test these four models ourselves. This guide combines independent video tests with on-screen measurements, manufacturer specs and verified buyer reviews; prices, ratings and specs checked on Amazon.com on October 27, 2026. A fact is kept only if at least two sources confirm it or it was clearly measured on camera.

Model by model
Dreame X50 Ultra Complete: the best robot vacuum for a large home
At $949.99 (checked October 27, 2026), the X50 Ultra Complete is built for homes where thresholds and furniture usually stop a robot. Its retractable legs lift it over door tracks and obstacles up to 2.36 inches (6 cm), and its VersaLift navigation drops it to 3.5 inches to slide under sofas. Up to 20,000 Pa of suction handles cat litter and crumbs, the DuoBrush system manages hair up to 11.8 inches long, and the brush and mop extend into corners. Dreame rates it for up to 180 minutes, and the “Complete” box includes spare brushes, bags, filters and 14 mop pads. It’s rated 4.1 out of 5 from 780 Amazon ratings.

Narwal Flow: the slimmest, with the smartest obstacle avoidance
At $999.99, the Narwal Flow combines a 3.7-inch body that reaches under furniture with dual HD cameras that recognize and avoid more than 200 object types, according to Narwal: fewer stops on cords and socks in a big home nobody is watching. Its FlowWash track mop is rinsed in real time with 113°F water, it crosses ledges up to 1.6 inches, and it runs up to 200 minutes. The dock washes the mop at 173°F, dries it and stores debris in a 2.5-liter bag for up to four months. It’s rated 4.3 out of 5 from 298 Amazon ratings. Torn between the two brands? See Narwal vs Dreame.
ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone: the fewest charging stops
At $1,099.99, this Deebot’s big idea is PowerBoost GaN charging: it tops up the battery during routine mop-washing breaks, so it gets back to work sooner across many rooms. Add 19,500 Pa of suction with ZeroTangle 3.0, a self-washing OZMO roller mop, TruePass wheels that cross steps up to 0.9 inches and gaps up to 1.6 inches, and a bagless dock with hot-water mop washing up to 167°F (75°C). ECOVACS rates it at 200 minutes and 61.8 dB. It’s rated 4.1 out of 5 from 2,017 Amazon ratings, the most-reviewed premium model here. Comparing it with Dreame? Read Dreame vs ECOVACS.
eufy E25: the best value for a multi-floor home
At $599.98, the eufy E25 brings flagship features for hundreds less. It remembers up to five floor plans and switches maps automatically, which is exactly what a multi-story house needs. 20,000 Pa of suction, DuoSpiral anti-tangle brushes and a HydroJet roller mop rinsed twice per second cover carpets and hard floors, and the all-in-one station empties a 3-liter bag (about 75 days), washes and dries the roller and refills the water. eufy rates it for 125 minutes of vacuuming plus mopping in standard mode. The listing shows 4.4 out of 5 from 56,906 ratings. Got pets too? It’s also in our guide to the best robot vacuum for pet hair.
FAQ
Should you pick the robot with the longest advertised runtime for a large home?
Not necessarily. The ability to recharge and then resume exactly where it left off matters more than the number of minutes on the box.
Is one robot enough for a multi-story home?
Yes, in most cases, as long as you carry it from one floor to the next and check that the app can save several separate maps. The eufy E25, for example, stores up to five floor plans.
Is max suction mode useful every day in a big home?
It’s better to save it for spots that are actually dirty, like rugs or the litter box corner: coverage per charge drops sharply in max mode, which means more recharge breaks over a large area.
Do you need an all-in-one dock above a certain home size?
It’s not required, but it becomes much more comfortable above about 1,100 to 1,300 sq ft (100 to 120 m²), because it spaces out the manual chores that come around faster in a big home.
Our verdict 🤖
For most large homes, the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete ($949.99, checked October 27, 2026) is the one to buy: it climbs the thresholds that stop other robots, slips under low furniture and keeps itself clean between runs. If clutter and cords are your problem, the Narwal Flow ($999.99) sees and avoids more objects than anything here. For the fewest charging stops in a sprawling home, the ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone ($1,099.99) recharges while it washes. And for a multi-floor home on a smarter budget, the eufy E25 ($599.98) covers it all for hundreds less.
